Luna took her seat at the Ravenclaw table, surveying all the food set out on the china ware infront of her, whilst dropping her bag into the spare seat beside her. She didn't even need to glance at the seat to make sure it was vacant...it was always vacant, as were all the seats surronding her. Her eyes widened dramatically, giving her an owlish look, as she realised that all the bacon was gone. She sighed half-heartedly, clasping her hands in her lap and turning to look out of the window instead.
The sun was still rising and in the light and shadows of its rays, the usually lush, green grass looked sandy and parched, as though it had been short of water for weeks. Cracks covered the earth and gusts of wind blew up the sand, giving the effect of a minor sand storm and making the air seem almost dirty. Luna sighed dreamily, her silvery gray eyes roaming over the grounds beneath her and watching in awe as the trees were stripped of their leaves right before her eyes.
"Are you going to take that?" Someone from her left asked, causing Luna to direct her attention away from the Hogwarts scenery.
"Umm?" Luna mumbled, before lowering her gaze to her hand, which was now hovering over the sausages, "Oh...no, go on take it, my next ritual to the Crumpled Hornshacks isn't due for another fortnight, besides they can last for months without--"
"What ever!" The person interrupted her, snatching the sausages away from her. Luna stared at the girl as she began stuffing her mouth full of meat and gave her a look of polite amazement.
